Welcome to the Woodland Educational Foundation! Our Board of directors is comprised of dedicated individuals who are committed to supporting the mission and purpose of the Foundation. Meet the team behind the scenes who work to make a difference in our school community.

President
Kristin Michna
Kristin is proud to serve as President of the Woodland Educational Foundation. She lives in Gurnee with her son and their lizard, and she is a full-time business owner. A lifelong volunteer, she has contributed her time and talents to her church, the Native American Church (St. Michael’s Mission), the Rescue Squad, Woodland PTA, and the Northern Illinois Food Bank. She has also created and led many successful events across Woodland Schools.
When she’s not working or volunteering, she enjoys taking road trips, reading, visiting car shows, cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs, and making the most of the summer weather.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Vice President
Taishiya Nix Allen
Taishiya is a devoted mother of six children in Woodland District and proudly serves as the Foundation’s Vice President. She brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources, customer service, and nonprofit leadership, with a career deeply rooted in community impact and organizational excellence.
Outside of her professional and volunteer commitments, Taishiya enjoys traveling with her family, cooking alongside her children, and staying inspired through a variety of podcasts.

Treasurer
Lynn Sheehy
Lynn Sheehy is the parent of a Woodland Middle School 7th grader and has been a proud member of the community since moving from Chicago in April 2022. She has spent the past 11 years working as a Principal Quality Assurance Engineer for a software engineering company in Evanston, IL, and also enjoys helping others plan memorable vacations through her work as an independent travel agent.
This is her third year serving as the Foundation’s Board Treasurer, where she brings strong organizational and financial skills to the role. She also serves on her neighborhood HOA board, continuing her commitment to community involvement. In her free time, she enjoys solving puzzles and building LEGO sets.

Executive Director
Angela Vinson
​Angela is a dedicated Woodland parent and long-time volunteer, with one child now a junior at Warren Township High School and two currently attending Woodland. After three years as Vice President of the Foundation, she now serves as Executive Director. Over the past 12 years, she has supported the district through volunteering and working as a substitute, while also building a diverse professional background in HR benefits administration and laboratory management. She additionally serves as President of the WTHS Football Parents Board. She loves spending time with her family, traveling on road trips, and cheering on football and basketball.​​

Director
Ulises Rivero
Ulises is a longtime member of the community, having lived in the area for 19 years. He is the proud parent of two daughters, Camilla and Gabriella, and a pet owner to Ruby Rose. With a strong passion for creativity and education, he enjoys painting, drawing, and gardening, and values spending quality time with his family.
He brings prior volunteer experience teaching after-school art programs and has dedicated the past 12 years to teaching at the high school level. His commitment to both education and the arts continues to shape his involvement in the community.
